Stop Generating.

When an AI prompt goes off the rails and the results are spinning out of control, you hit the stop generating button. And in the face of the unfettered proliferation of AI-generated art and music everywhere we look, is it time to stop and ask… should we stop generating?

As a digital artist, I've attempted to tackle this serious question in a highly nonserious way—by drawing unicorns.

The unicorn motif is inspired by an image generated from an AI experiment from 2023, published in the paper "Sparks of Artificial General Intelligence: Early Experiments with GPT-4." (You can Google it.) In it, this guy from Microsoft gave GPT-4 the prompt: "Draw a unicorn in TiKZ." The result was a very weird-looking unicorn—and also, proof that AGI was possible because the GPT could think and reason like a real human being. Pretty amazing stuff, but I'm just interested in the unicorns.

Below is an example of this work. More to come on Instagram @strawdermania.
